Capybara Pin
A 1.25" hard enamel pin with a collectable backing card, printed on recycled paper.
These guys are the largest living rodents on the planet (over 4 feet long!), and can be found throughout nearly the entire continent of South America. Capys are super social rodents that live in large groups, sometimes up to 20 individuals!
Capybaras recently started to gain attention online for being so chill and lovable; It almost seems like every animal (especially humans) just adore them! Though I've never interacted with a capybara in real life, they do appear to be extremely calm and friendly animals.
One of the most notable features of these giant rodents is that they are semi-aquatic! They spend the majority of their days submerged in water, eating aquatic plants. They even often sleep in water, with just their noses poking out.
Because of their love for water, a zoo in Japan would give them onsens to relax in during the winter, complete with yuzu fruit! The absolutely adorable scene of a capybara in a hot spring is what inspired this month's pin! Its also a major component in the capybara's recent rise in popularity online.
